About Us
We are a family breeder of AKC Labrador Retrievers in beautiful Northern Michigan. Our family's mission and purpose are to share the love and support of our Labradors with families near and far!
We are Dan and Stephanie Sutton; we married in 2009 and started our family shortly after. Our son Ethan was born in 2010, and our daughter Paisley was born in 2013. We added our first Labrador, Gauge, to our family in 2011. We were so blessed to have him join our family and were amazed by his loving and loyal temperament. We then welcomed our second Labrador Mitzi to our family; she was just as perfect! We were in love and had to share these amazing Labradors with other families!
Our puppies are family raised in our home with lots of love and attention, from assisted births to go-home days! Our goal is to improve the breed, and we strive to produce that loving and great temperament, which is the true hallmark of the breed. Our puppies are wonderful family companions, hunting companions, and truly best friends to many happy families. Additionally, many of our puppies are service dogs for special and emotional needs. We take pride in the joy each puppy brings to their new family.
Our Labradors are very important to us! They are evaluated for both health and temperament. All are full Labrador health panel tested, Orthopedic Foundation of America (OFA) hip, elbow, and eye certified before breeding. We carefully plan each breeding to ensure we do everything possible to produce healthy and sound puppies.
As responsible breeders, we want to learn as much as possible about our future puppy families. We want to earn trust in us raising their next family member and, in return, entrust families to honor our legacy. We raise our puppies with 100% dedication. Additionally, we temperament evaluate each puppy. Which unquestionably makes matching each puppy with each family flawless. We will only send home a puppy that perfectly fits your family and your individual wants and needs.
We limit visiting until puppies have been vaccinated to protect their health. All puppies have several parasite preventive treatments, 1st set of shots, a microchip, and a vet exam before going home. We send out a detailed welcome letter with recommendations and important information to prepare families weeks before the go-home date. On the go-home day, each puppy is sent home with a nice departure pack, including high-quality food, vitamins, a blanket with mom and littermates' scents, toys, treats, training resources, and more.
Our puppies are placed in pet and service homes with AKC-limited papers only. Our puppies come with a lifetime guarantee against common diseases known in Labradors and 26 month written hip guarantee. Sutton Labrador Retrievers reserves the right to pick(s) of any litter.
Adoption of our Labrador puppies is by approval only. When we have our waiting list open for new reservations, we have our adoption contract posted to be filled out by interested families. Once approved, we accept a $200 non-refundable deposit to reserve a spot on our waiting list for your choice of sex and color. We keep our waiting list in order based on the date deposit is placed. You will be contacted when the choice of color and sex is available, at which time you can choose if the timing is good for you or transfer to the next available litter. The deposit is transferable for six months or until we have desired color and sex available. We register the guarantee, AKC paperwork, and microchip directly to you. If a family ever needs to rehome their Sutton puppy or dog, Sutton Labrador Retrievers have first right of refusal.
Thank you for visiting and reading about us! We hope to help you find your next best friend!
